Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts (Canadian Studies) from the University of Prince Edward Island. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick, Faculty of Law in 2013. She received her Master of Laws from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2015.


Maria developed her advocacy skills through her research, writing and presentations relating to the Supreme Court case of Canada v Bedford, and the legislative reform which followed. She has been published in the UNB Law Journal, Halifax Chronicle Herald and quoted in the National Post and Nova Voce.

Maria is an avid outdoor adventurer. She and her husband, Colin, reside in Saint John with their two cats. Having grown up in Sussex, Maria is thrilled to have a career that allowed her to return home.
